Hi All,

Some IMPORTANT information of the written exam given on 10/21 is as follows:

1) It will be an open-book and open-note exam. Electronics are not allowed.

2) Around 70% of the exam questions will be taken from the recommended exercises (i.e., the training set in statistical terms) with potential rephrasing of the questions. The remaining 30% will be unseen questions (i.e., the validation set).

3) Course materials that will be covered in the exam will be up to t-SNE (not including t-SNE).

4) Question parts in the exam generally don't require long derivation.

5) Make sure that your handwriting in the exam report is readable. The answers must also be to-the-point, logical and concise. Redundant writing in the exam report not relevant to the exam questions will result in point deductions.

6) You are welcome to discuss the recommended exercises with others but when writing the answers, it must be in your own words.

Best,

Chun
