The topic of the course is parametric statistical inference, in particular statistical theory for exponential families. The course covers statistical philosophies and principles, likelihood methods, exponential families (substantial part) and related models, including generalized linear models (substantial part), and large sample approximations. The course is theoretical. It aims not only at a widening of the statistical toolbox but also at a deeper understanding of statistical methods and models, whereas concrete applications are more in the background.
