- Teacher: Hampus Nyberg
The course covers modern methods of cryptography,
which form a basis for secure electronic communication, and methods to
decrypt these. The focus is on the mathematical foundations in number
theory, algebraic geometry and statistics and how these are used in cryptography.
The course is of interest to those who work with security aspects of
electronic communication, but also for those who want to see one of the
more spectacular modern applications of mathematics.
Schedule
Please note that self-enrollment on the course page is not the same as course registration in Ladok.

This course is taught in English
This course introduces basic as well as modern concepts of statistical learning in terms of artificial neural networks (deep learning), with applications in statistical data analysis. Topics treated include feedforward networks, regularization and optimization of networks with many layers, convolutional networks, recurrent networks and validation methods. The course also includes some of the following modern topics; autoencoders, representation learning, deep generative methods, and information theoretic concepts of deep learning.

- Teacher: Chun-Biu Li
- Teacher: Nik Tavakolian
This course is taught in English.
The course addresses the basic statistical principles from the viewpoints of both frequentist and Bayesian statistics. In particular, the topics, like point and interval estimation, test theory, likelihood theory, asymptotics, bootstrap, and model selection will be studied. The implementation of the theoretical results in statistical software is an important part of the course.
Literature: "Likelihood and Bayesian Inference: With Applications in Biology and Medicine" by Leonhard Held and Daniel Sabanés Bové, Springer 2020.
